Snapshot Day a Success!
Thanks to everyone who visited the library and took part in our Snapshot Day here at the Ness City Public Library this past week. We averaged 54 people per day, Tuesday through Friday! In addition to helping patrons find their material we answered 43 reference questions, three of them concerning job opportunities. Thirty-seven individuals used our free inter-net services. We made right at 100 copies, sent 6 faxes and laminated for 2 people.
On Thursday morning eight children and their mothers attended Lap-Sit Story Time. We read “Up, Down, and Around” by Katherine Ayers, which is the selected 2010 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers book. We also had fun acting out the story and finding the vegetable that Miss Jean was reading about. Following our story, we sang songs and limbered up with some lively movements. Then it was time to check out books and give the moms time to visit with each other.
Congratulations to the winners of our drawing: Kathy Borthwick, a black leather office satchel; Tammy Jordan, Plaid office tote; Denise Crosswhite, the book “ Happy Ever After” by Nora Roberts; Nora Jennings, the book “ Walker’s Wedding” by Lori Copeland; Wayne Moore, the book “Rusted Tin” by Ralph Compton; and Mark McCammond, the book “ Seven Days to Die” by J.A. Johnstone.
We truly appreciate all of our patrons and community for helping up make this week a special time. A very special “thank you” to the mystery patron who sent us the lovely fall bouquet of flowers and caring words. It certainly brightened our day and looks so pretty on our refreshment table. You can see our pictures on our library web page or on our Face Book page.
This was a special week, but in reality it is just a routine week in the life of one small rural Kansas library! Of course, with the exception of serving cookies and coffee, taking pictures of many of our patrons, and giving away prizes. Thanks everyone for reminding us that our library is a very important part of our community and the people we serve are very important to us!
